Privacy statement
In short. We collect as little as we can. Pupil data belongs to the school: we only process it on the school's behalf, and it never goes to an AI service. Everything is stored in the European Union. No ads, no tracking, no selling of data.
1. Who we are
tempono is an online tool that helps Dutch primary schools with curriculum compacting and enrichment for pupils who are ready for more. tempono is made by Tim Meerhof, Schiedam.
Questions about privacy? Email privacy@tempono.com.
2. Two roles
- Visitors to this website and teachers with an account. We are responsible for this data (the controller). This statement covers it.
- Pupil data, such as names, test results and answers. The school is responsible for it. We are a processor: we only handle it on the school's instructions, under the Model Verwerkersovereenkomst 4.0 (the standard Dutch data processing agreement for education) that the school signs with us. Which data that is and where it is kept is described in the privacybijsluiter (in Dutch).
tempono follows the Convenant Digitale Onderwijsmiddelen en Privacy 4.0, the Dutch privacy covenant for digital learning materials. We will formally join it once tempono is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce.
3. This website
tempono.com sets no cookies, uses no analytics and loads no third-party scripts or fonts. To deliver the pages, our host Cloudflare technically processes your IP address; we don't keep it ourselves.
4. Your account on app.tempono.com
When you create an account, we process:
- Name and email address, to create your account and let you log in.
- Password, only as a hash. We cannot read your password.
- Login sessions: the IP address and browser you log in with, to keep your session secure. A session expires after 30 days.
- What you make: enrichment bundles, images and settings.
- Technical logs (such as time, page requested and errors), to track down faults and abuse. They are deleted automatically after 7 days.
Legal basis: the agreement we make with you when you create an account (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), and for security and logs our legitimate interest in a secure service (Article 6(1)(f)).
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. Want to close your account? Email privacy@tempono.com; we will delete your account and everything you made within 30 days. It then disappears from our backups within another 30 days.
5. Your AI assistant
You can connect your own AI assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, to tempono to write bundles. You log in to tempono and give the assistant permission. What you share with your assistant falls under your own agreement with that provider; it is not a party we engage.
The connection only works with lesson content: bundles, examples and images. An assistant cannot request pupil data through tempono. So don't put pupils' names or other details about pupils in a bundle yourself: whatever is in a bundle, your assistant can read.
6. Cookies
On app.tempono.com we use one cookie: the login cookie that keeps you logged in. It is strictly necessary for the service, so we don't ask for consent. tempono.com sets no cookies.
7. Where your data is kept
tempono runs on Cloudflare. Our database and files are stored in the European Union. Requests are handled in the Cloudflare data centre closest to you, for the Netherlands usually Amsterdam.
Cloudflare, Inc. is a US company. Where data does leave the EU, this is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, under which Cloudflare is certified, and by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses in Cloudflare's data processing addendum.
8. What we don't do
- We don't sell data or share it with advertisers.
- We don't build profiles or show ads.
- We never use pupil data to train AI models, and never send it to AI services.
- We use data for nothing other than running tempono.
9. Security
All connections are encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are stored only as hashes. Each school's data is kept apart from other schools'. If something does go wrong with personal data (a data breach), we notify the schools involved as soon as possible and, where required, the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
10. Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data, or to hand it over in a common file format. You can also object to processing. Email privacy@tempono.com; you will get an answer within a month.
Is it about a pupil's data? Then contact the school: the school decides about pupil data, and we help the school act on your request.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
11. Changes
As tempono changes, this statement may change too. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. For major changes we let teachers with an account know.
